Fair Trade African Village

Starting at the Town Hall, Abergavenny

Organised by David & Martha Holman from Love Zimbabwe. Participants include: Oxfam Cymru, Fairtrade Abergavenny & Crickhowell, Love Zimbabwe and children from Our Lady & St. Michael's School. The march will proceed to the Methodist Church, Castle St via St.John's St and Square.

The oldest commercial vineyard in Wales, where you will see how grapes are grown for wine. Followed by a tutored wine tasting and a Welsh cheese tasting. The whole session takes approx. 2.5 hours. Sensible footwear should be worn as the vineyard is on a slope and the paths are grass.

Food from the Forgotten Landscape - Calwyn Glastonbury Beekeeper

Food From A Forgotten Landscape

Visit a local apiary. Beekeeper Calwyn Glastonbury will talk about bees, pollination and honey production. See a hive, enjoy a taster session and purchase local honey. (Please note: this event is not suitable for those who are sensitive to bees). Then it's off to Blaenavon for a mini tour of the World Heritage Site, stopping at the Centre to explore and order lunch. Finally, meet Steve and Sarah Warman who rear organic Aberdeen Angus beef cattle in a challenging upland landscape. Includes taster session and chance to buy some top quality beef.

Step abroad the minibus (25 minute journey) to visit two interesting farms in the Llangovan area, Raglan. Meet Alan and Ceri Morgan at Gadr Farm who've won wildlife farming awards. 2 mile walk with steep climb. See woodland conservation and fantastic views. Then on to Frank and Leigh Strawford at Wernddu Vineyard for a tour. Meet their herd of alpacas. Sample wine, cider and perry and visit the shop. Wear boots / stout shoes and bring wet weather clothes.

Walk is FREE but tickets will be required.
20 places – meet at Abergavenny TIC.

A 6-mile moderate walk, via Castle Meadows and Llanwenarth Church. Tour the vines, lunch on the slopes and enjoy the views. There will be a chance to taste and buy various wines, before the stroll back to town. Walking boots and waterproof clothing required. When booking online you will be asked to state your preference for food to puchase on the day.

Local cheeseplatter with crusty bread for one: £5.50; two sharing: £9.99

Additional refreshments can also be purchased on the day.

Situated midway between Monmouth & Abergavenny. 4 Miles from Raglan. Old Raglan/Abergavenny Rd signed Clytha. At Bryngwyn/Great Oak crossroads take turn to Great Oak. In Great Oak follow signs from red telephone down narrow lane. Home-made teas.
