FIRST COME FIRST SERVED!

Food Academy contestantsThe Food Academy is now in its third year. We are delighted to offer a venue and programme of informative and entertaining activities to engage children and young people. Learning about food at an early age is the key to making informed choices about what we eat throughout life.

 

All INSIDE activities will be ticketed. Tickets are free and will be available on the day from the Food Academy, which is situated on the Lower Castle Lawn.

All OUTSIDE activities are ‘drop-in’. No tickets required.

Spicy, herby, Cumberland, or maybe traditional is your favourite? A chance to try your hand at making your own sausages and take them away for your lunch. Age 7 and over.

Apples Galore! Dragon Orchard Cropsharers, Ledbury
Juice different varieties of apples and find your favourite. Try your hand at the longest peel competition, and join in lots of different apple-inspired activities.

(part of Monmouthshire Youth Service)

Help create food sculptures of buildings & landmarks of Monmouthshire: Abergavenny Castle, Monnow Bridge in Monmouth. Then help eat them at the end of the festival!

Food Festival Challenge

Monmouth Rugby Club versus Monmouth Comprehensive School Rowing Club. Teams race around collecting a variety of ingredients from stallholders, and then dash back and cook them – all under the watchful eye of Master Chef’s Gregg Wallace. Special guest appearance by new Blue Peter Chef 2007, Jake Sawyers.

12.00noon – 1.00pm

Camp Cooking - with the Monmouthshire Scouts

Watch the scouts cook up treats such as Welsh Cakes, stuffed mushrooms or fudge and have a taste too.
